WTF Wednesday

Posted on July 6, 2011 | by Bridget | 24 Comments

For starters, I realize that you all get my WTF Wednesday on Thursday. I blog at night, it’s still Wednesday here. Next week I’ll do this on Tuesday night so the blog looks like it is written by someone who owns a calendar.

As you might recall, last week my Wednesday running partner cancelled because she wasn’t feeling well. She was, at that time 39 weeks pregnant. Her due date was yesterday. (Tuesday) So, I assumed she would not be running today.

Wrong. Last night I got this text.

Seriously, she’s nuts. Who runs 4 miles at over 40 weeks pregnant?

I kept expecting her to cancel. I also did lots of self-talk convincing myself that maybe I could deliver a baby on a running trail. Or at the very least, I was capable of calling her husband without panicking and crying like a raving lunatic.

When I pulled into the parking lot there she was, in all her preggo glory, ready to hit the trail.

If you couldn’t see that she was pregnant, you wouldn’t have known it. We even passed some soldiers. Granted, they were probably on some wussy profile or in the fatboy program.  Even so. Christin said she wanted to put a sign on her shirt that said, “I’m 40 weeks pregnant. What’s your excuse?”

Hopefully she will deliver in the next few days. I need a week off.

    HAH! hilarious and scary!
She is a hardcore soon-to-be-mommy… I’m waiting for next wednesday’s post, about how she delivered over the weekend, and dragged you out on a 5 mile run + stroller between the weekend and wednesday morning :P Baby’s earliest memories will be of the wind rushing through his hair as mommy jogs speedily past marathon runners and cyclists :D possibly while reading a picture book to him

  4. Your friend kind of rocks. But I don’t think it’s going to be the next few days – that baby needs to drop!

I’m not sure which is more WTF in my book…her running at 40+ weeks or her ability to still be smiling?
