I saw this poster at the twins’ high school. There’s entirely too much to say about it…

WTF?

Hahaha! I remember my highschool bulletin board and the monthly contests. Forgive me but I still have one line to add, “True Love Waits”, this is the popular tagline in my corner of the globe. I don’t get the “No *gold ribbon* Body is Perfect” bit though :(

    • Katie says:

You must be from the Southest. It was True Love Waits in my corner of the globe too! I’m not so sure it worked for most of my friends. I was too afraid my parents would kill me, so I waited.

      • ava says:

Hi Katie, yep I’m from southeast Asia, specifically Cebu, Philippines. We have the same exact sentiments too! I was afraid Mama would kill me! I waited. At first it was I fear my Ma’s wrath but then later on, it was my personal choice. But this bulletin is a riot! Hey Bridget, did the students create this or the teachers?

  2. Jo Eberhardt says:

Clearly my knowledge of biology is lacking. I had absolutely no idea that fame could lead to teen pregnancy. (I’m not even going to comment on babies leading to teen pregnancy.)

  3. Mirjam says:

Okay, I don’t get this Fame causes babies? Babies cause fame? Pregnancy causes babies, babies cause pregnancy? I’m confused. There are just to may things wrong with this poster!

  4. Youre right! WTF?
I think there is A LOT to say on that poster, but yeah, not gonna get into it. ;)

  5. Mel says:

Clearly already sexually active teens were solicited to make this bulletin board and thought it would be fun to confuse everyone. And, just as clear, some teacher just wanted to check it off of the list of shit to get done and didn’t actually BOTHER to read the facts listed because it looked pretty so they must have tried, right?

  6. Moomser says:

Obviously the girl depicted is famous and so that’s how fame causes pregnancy and just as obviously babies cause pregnancy as she is very pregnant and is also carrying what appears to be a newborn, seems very clear to me…

  7. MJ says:

The only guess I could take on the fame aspect would be because of shows like 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom. Apparently one of the girls on one of those shows became pregnant just so she could get on the show. Or at least that was the rumor going around. She saw it as her way to get famous.

  8. I made it to the “Causes of Teen Pregnancy” list: “Babies.” And then I bailed. Congress must have produced this.

  9. Kim Pugliano says:

    O. M. G.

Who KNEW fame could cause teen pregnancy?

  10. Kim Pugliano says:

Haha! I should have read all of the other comments before I made one, because now mine looks generic. I usually like mine to be funny and original and it’s none of those and I TOTALLY missed the baby part.

    I suck.

  11. Nami says:

The Hula girl’s dress says “Mommy to B” but she’s already holding a baby…I suppose it was the one that got her preggers? Hey, the art department’s got some real talent!

  12. angela says:

Giggling. I don’t have much to say, because the fame & babies causing teen pregnancy have been covered.

I do think it’s funny that the “Mommy to B” is already holding a baby.

  13. Janice says:

Are you kidding? If you didn’t take a pic of it, i wouldn’t have believed you! Babies lead to pregnancy? And WTF? Who posted this? A sure hope it wasn’t a teacher! Good grief!

  14. sparkling74 says:

Ok, I have to weigh on this as a teacher. I teach at the middle school level. Someone, somewhere, told kids that to make a poster, you just have to make it look like a lot of work went into it and you should always type things to make it look official and then you don’t have to worry that someone will actually read the words you wrote. THis person also must have told them that after you put the effort into typing and printing everything so neatly, you should or write something that makes no sense and makes the poster look very bad. THis will ensure that it wioll look like you worked very hard and no one will really look at it.

I’m such a hardass. I go over everything with such a fine toothed comb, no one gets away with anything when they do posters!!

  15. No body is perfect – what does that even mean? That it’s okay to get pregnant as a teen? That poster is confusing me big time.

  16. Audrey says:

I’m pretty sure that Baby is famous and thats how she got pregnant.

  17. Jamie says:

Placement of the ribbon/measuring tape… on purpose or accident?

  18. Jen says:

So…did I read that fame causes teenage pregnancy? I am confused.

  19. –It’s no wonder dumn ass kids are getting pregnant with stupid posters like this hanging around. Fame? Am I missing something?

  20. ava says:

If I could just roll on the floor (office) right now, I’m doing it right about the moment I read Kim’s reply on Jo’s comment. Hahahaha!

  21. Jessica says:

I’m wondering how fame and babies can lead to teen pregnancy.

  22. OMG. I am scared. I see stuff like that and homeschooling looks pretty good. Seriously. Ugh.

  23. Yes I do love the ribbony tape measure in her crotch region.

Is that supposed to be for when she has to check how many inches her waistline grows during the three trimesters?

    Huh.

I don’t think I was this prepared in high school…

    • Bridget says:

I think you were lucky not to be this kind of prepared.

I keep my tape measure there too, you just never know when you are going to need a crotch tape measure.

  24. sparkling74 says:

I think the baby she’s holding is the one she just delivered. Not everyone leaves the hosptial with a stomach as flat as a pancake, right? She thought she’d have it and poof the poooch would be gone. And she just was about to measure it when the baby cried and she had to pick her up and she never got around to doing it. And she had nothing else that fit except the Mommy to B dress. And now she’s sad.

  25. Leigh Ann says:

Oh I fear the teen years! I have 3 girls!!!!

When a friend delivered her baby, the hallways in her hospital were covered in PSA posters that were geared towards teen moms, which was kinda sad. But funny too, ’cause they said things like, “Hey, girl! You thinking about breastfeeding? That’s cool!” Cool indeed.
