WTF Wednesday

Today I’m linking up with Kim over at The G Is Silent for WTF Wednesday!

When Dallas and I go on trips we buy magnets. That’s our big souvenir, magnets. Not very exciting, but usually cheap and small. We move a lot, so the less crap we have-the better.

Thanks to loving and generous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends Taryn and John often travel without us. They used to buy us little trinkets from their trips. For the most part, they travel with money we gave them, so they’re buying us crap we don’t really want with our own money. (One exception is an I {heart} Jack Bauer shirt that I sleep in almost every night.) Anywho, we told them if they insisted on buying us gifts, a magnet is the best choice.

This past weekend Taryn, who is only 15, went to a youth conference with our church. The group flew to Portland and then drove to the conference location. In Portland, Taryn picked up a souvenir for us.

Just to recap, she was going to a church (albeit a little hippie church) youth conference.

That’s not normal.

In all fairness, they probably didn’t have a magnet shaped like boxed wine…

  2. Moomser says:

I second Jo’s comment! Also, I love that you have a Houston magnet!!
We used to do mugs… Then realized the error of our ways, now we do magnets too.

We have ref magnets too! But unfortunately it always falls off the ref courtesy of the wandering hands of Mikaela and Ayana.
Now we have headless kangaroo, a japanese doll minus the doll, what’s left is the circle magnet only, a miniature Germany map which thankfully is still complete, a sitar from India but I am partial to the magnet from Australia that doubles as a can opener, neat!
P.S. I’ve only been to Japan. Some of these are from dear husband’s travels and from friends. :)

  4. Grace says:

Haha! Like mother, like daughter ! Oh, wait. Wrong poison. You need a magnet that looks like a wine glass :)

It is when you’re the mother.

Any church that supports beer and magnets of their image, is my kind of church.

She couldn’t find a wine glass magnet?

  12. Audrey says:

We collect shot glasses.. and now have 1 million of them. Had to make shelves just for them. Yet never use them cause we just eyeball shots…
Anywho… Atleast she remembered to bring you home something other than dirty laundry right?

  13. Poppy says:

You should have chaperoned!!!! We could have hung out!!! I know that’s not the point of this post, but still. WTF Bridget, WTF?

  14. Find it hard to believe that wine connoisseurs do not like magnets ;)

  15. Ashley says:

    haha that’s funny :)

I collect shot glasses. Small enough that they don’t take up too much room – you can get some neat looking ones at different places – and they’re useful!!

  16. That, my friend, is a kid who’s trying to embarrass her parents. Well played, kid.

  17. My MIL went on a wine tour, and as a souvenir she sent us a cork magnet with the phrase “Drink Naked” on it. Yeah. It actually makes people More uncomfortable when we explain it.

  18. Sandra says:

At least she got you something! You know you were thought of.
