We are doing The Elf On The Shelf this year. I realize it’s a big marketing scam. My friend Jackie suggested we do it so we could celebrate an early Christmas with Daddy before he left for Afghanistan. Totally worth the $29.95. Besides, now I get to stalk my creative friends’ Facebook pages for ideas on what our elf, BuddyPinky, can do each night.
So far he has dyed our milk green.
Luckily he did it when the milk was almost gone because my children refused to drink the green milk. They said, “we only drink white milk.” I never knew they were so racist about milk.
My friend Leah posted a photo of their elf fishing, so of course BuddyPinky had to do it too.
BuddyPinky must be pretty tough. He managed to keep the stupid dog from knocking over the bookshelf to eat the goldfish for a full 24 hours.
He even climbed up on the cabinets to spread some holiday cheer to the judgmental birds.
The best part was when BuddyPinky left a few presents for an early Christmas with our hero.
This ended on a sad note. Sorry.
Stop crying and head over to Funny Or Snot for the best Elf On The Shelf story ever.

Pretty creative little elf you have…and he has a heart love it!! BTW did you serve green eggs and ham with the green milk?
Nope, they probably wouldn’t have eaten those either.
Our elf, Elvis Little Frost, has turned my Rita into a nice person. I am keeping him around until Easter at least.
Our elf is not powerful enough to make my children nice.
LOL this elf had fun fishing i see LOL again
HAHA!! You’re awesome Bili:)
That letter brought tears to my eyes. Damn you and your making the magic of Christmas so appealing!
BTW, I second the green eggs and ham idea.
You love the Elf now don’t you?
I wish Noah was still little so we could do this. How stinking fun. He too would completely shun the milk. No way, no how. Thanks for the downer at the end; I really needed that. And as for Poppy’s Dick – OH. MY. GOD. I retweeted and Facebooked it, and then I Pinned it. So damn funny.
Okay off to your picture of the day!!
I think Poppy’s post is the funniest I have ever read!
That was a funny story over at Funny or Snot. I looked at the book and elf at the store, loved the idea but the elf is so creepy looking. Just wondering how your Elf got his name.
Reese and Jackson couldn’t agree, so we combined their ideas.
—Do you think that elf is a little creepy…or is it just me?
Thinking of you, dear.
hope you are not TOO lonely. Xxx Kiss
He’s a little creepy. Reese made me promise he would not hide in his room.
I’m happy to see that the judgmental birds are their happy judgmental selves!! This is a nice scam, I’ll be IN this too if this is available in my country that is.
It’s really fun, I bet you could get it online!
Who’s going to write the post about Dick and BuddyPinky on New Years Eve? You or Poppy?
Haha, that’s not a bad idea! Drunken Elf? Awesome.
Thanks for reminding me. I have to dig ours up! I just took him down out of the ceiling fan a month ago. I suck at Elf on a Shelf.
Did he make your kids behave all year?
Thanks for the shout out. As far as creativity with Dick, you totally have me beat.
I really love the elf on a shelf. I had never heard of it before and I really like it, even though he is a little bitty creepy.
