We are doing The Elf On The Shelf this year. I realize it’s a big marketing scam. My friend Jackie suggested we do it so we could celebrate an early Christmas with Daddy before he left for Afghanistan. Totally worth the $29.95. Besides, now I get to stalk my creative friends’ Facebook pages for ideas on what our elf, BuddyPinky, can do each night.

So far he has dyed our milk green.

Luckily he did it when the milk was almost gone because my children refused to drink the green milk. They said, “we only drink white milk.” I never knew they were so racist about milk.

My friend Leah posted a photo of their elf fishing, so of course BuddyPinky had to do it too.

BuddyPinky must be pretty tough. He managed to keep the stupid dog from knocking over the bookshelf to eat the goldfish for a full 24 hours.

He even climbed up on the cabinets to spread some holiday cheer to the judgmental birds.

Christmas chickens!

The best part was when BuddyPinky left a few presents for an early Christmas with our hero.

This ended on a sad note. Sorry.

Stop crying and head over to Funny Or Snot for the best Elf On The Shelf story ever.

That letter brought tears to my eyes. Damn you and your making the magic of Christmas so appealing!

BTW, I second the green eggs and ham idea.

I wish Noah was still little so we could do this. How stinking fun. He too would completely shun the milk. No way, no how. Thanks for the downer at the end; I really needed that. And as for Poppy’s Dick – OH. MY. GOD. I retweeted and Facebooked it, and then I Pinned it. So damn funny.

Okay off to your picture of the day!!

That was a funny story over at Funny or Snot. I looked at the book and elf at the store, loved the idea but the elf is so creepy looking. Just wondering how your Elf got his name.

Who’s going to write the post about Dick and BuddyPinky on New Years Eve? You or Poppy?

  10. Thanks for reminding me. I have to dig ours up! I just took him down out of the ceiling fan a month ago. I suck at Elf on a Shelf.
