WTF Wednesday

I don’t care about health food. I should eat better, but brownies and wine taste really good.

However, there are a few food things that really gross me out. Food that isn’t really food is one of them. Yesterday I babysat a friend’s one-year-old for an a couple of hours. (It wasn’t real babysitting because she was doing me a favor while I watched her baby. Also, because I drank wine while babysitting.) She packed some microwaveable macaroni and cheese for his dinner. I never buy that stuff before because one portion is not nearly enough to get my kids mouths full enough for them to shut up.

These are the directions.

White powder? Seriously? What’s in the white powder? Is it anthrax, cocaine, baby powder? I thought they were probably exaggerating. But upon further investigation….

What is that?

Don’t worry, I made it for him. It smelled normal. He and Sadie seemed to enjoy it. Like I said, I don’t really care about eating healthy.

  1. hmmm… I wonder what it was? We eat some processed foods but try to limit it- I say that, but we seem to end up a Chick-Fil-A a lot, too. :) We try to stay away from the instant stuff- but when I was working, that’s all we ate. Boiling water just took too long. Now, I take the time to cook hard a few times a week, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the blogging. :)

Um… I don’t know if I would have eaten it. But give it to the kids? Absolutely.

  3. Barbara says:

Hmm, I don’t know if I would have eaten that. That is just a little distrubing.

  4. ava says:

I’ll be happy if my 4-year-old-still-obsessed-with-leggings Mikaela eats this. So far, her usual is, white rice and gravy only.

  5. My son would go for that. My daughter would pull the mother of all tantrums as it is not on HER list of “foods I will eat without throwing a shit fit”. :D

  6. Kim says:

Seriously I don’t care what’s in it, Kraft Mac N Cheese is the BOMB DIGGITY.

  7. Mirjam says:

I would Give it to the kids, but me..eat that..I don’t think so!It’s the: “you will see loose white powder” that freaks me out..

  8. I LOVED that when I was in college – seriously, freshman year it was like 25% of my meals. Until, one day, I just found it disgusting. And I’ve never looked back. Until now, that is.

  9. Jamie says:

I’ve thought the SAME thing but fed it anyway. Not anymore bc I can’t stand the taste of kraft anything for some reason. But when I didn’t care I added hotdogs to it just to add some extra fake flavors! ha!

  10. Mercurial says:

My son used to eat that…before, like you said, it wasn’t nearly enough to keep him quiet (er, full). Yay for wine!

  11. Mel says:

I, too, am always a bit dubious about this powder. However, my kid loves this stuff, so it’s got to be good, right?

  12. Lenore says:

You know – what concerns me is the fact that they point out you’ll see the powder, but they do not go any further to say something like, “Don’t worry it is harmless.”

  13. JMG says:

i just spent the last two days reading your blog from beginning to end. i don’t even have kids…its just that funny. and obviously a slow couple days at work.

  14. Nami says:

You know, I’d like to make fun of this Mac n’ Cheese with you, but truth is, I sent it to our “Adopted Soldier.” I hate to force the “organic” and “health food” stuff on people I don’t know – it’s up there with politics and religion. Thanks for hooking us up with that, by the way.

  15. Isa says:

My friends and I call those Golden Babies.

  16. –Love your honesty.

    Give it to the kids.

    Hell, Yeah. Xx

  17. Grace says:
