Fancy Feet

One of the hardest things about moving all the time is making friends. It would be a lot easier if we could all act like 5-year-olds. Jackson told me that he “acame” friends with Alison when “She asked me to sit by her at carpet time. And I did. And that’s how we acame friends.”

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just ask other people to sit next to us and then all be best friends? (Also, I’d like to institute carpet time. A half hour a day where someone reads to us and we get to have vanilla wafers and Kool-Aid.)

But it doesn’t work like that. Making friends is hard. A long series of trial and error. Meeting people, thinking they are awesome – then finding out they’re crazy or just not the right fit. Trying again. And again. It’s exhausting. That’s why when one of Taryn’s friends’ Mom’s called me with a direct sales schtick – I bit. I wasn’t especially interested in skin care products – I tend to get mine at Target – but I wanted to be her friend. So she came over and I bought some stuff. We chatted about nothing and about running. She’s a serious runner. Two marathons, a yearly triathlon, yearly half-marathons.

Despite that, I really liked her. Not only did I buy skin care products, I agreed to go running with her. Like a teenage girl, I assumed she would never call.

I couldn’t have been more wrong. Kay called. And called. And ran with me when I couldn’t even make it a full mile. We ran all last summer. We slipped and sloshed through winter snow and ice. She encouraged me to run further. To not give up – even now when I feel like my crappy leg is never going to heal.

All that over some hand lotion.

As it turns out, I like running. I also like her Pink Papaya products. Before you click away, I’m not being paid for this post. Not at all. Although, I do hope my shout-outs to Kay will get me a pass on the treacherous hills by her house during our next run (and the next four or five after that).

Kay recently hosted a “foot party.” I know what you’re thinking, feet are gross! I totally agree – they are gross. So what better way to un-gross them than to slather them with scrubs and lotions?

Before we got to the nasty feet part of the evening we tried on Pink Papaya’s all botanical make up.

Don’t those ladies look sexy? Ready for the husband’s to come back from Afghanistan!

Kay even did hand treatments. Sara might have enjoyed hers a little too much…

Then it was on to the feet. We soaked. We sugar scrubbed. (I’m in love with the Pink Papaya sugar scrubs.) We lotioned until our feet smelled sweet. The lotion of choice is called Sexy Beach. I’m a big fan of the products, but I didn’t expect them to name one after me!

Kay even gave us a foot spray called Samba Nights, it would have made Ricky Martin (Or Ricky Martinez, as I like to call him after a few glasses of wine) proud.

Even I got in on the foot action. My feet are much more fancy now – which is why I’ll allow you this one and only peak at them…

Oops, it looks like that photo got cut off.

It was an excellent night. I think I may have hooked all my girlfriends on Pink Papaya. They’re obviously hooked on Kay too, I almost couldn’t get them to leave…

Such a tease! :) The photo got cut off huh? But you sure are looking fabulous B!
I love the line about meeting friends as trial and error. Inasmuch as I’d love to have lots of friends there are just those that don’t fit. So true.

Oh, I need a great friend like that to run with!
I agree that we all should have carpet time, wouldn’t that be nice.

It was a fun night. Pink Papaya is good stuff. My favorite was a foot scrub you rub on your feet straight from the bottle, no hands needed. I hate getting my hands all gross from the lotions or abrasive scrubs. Try it out people!

Pink Papaya foot rub – sounds randy! Does it make John’s feet smell nice, because then I’m sold.

The lip stain was awesome too… My lips were still slightly stained the next morning… A total “morning after” hottness factor in Ricky Martinez’s … Oops…I mean the hubs’ world! ;)

Sure sure, you pampered yourselves (I’m jealous!)….I have to say my favourite part of this post is that this friendship endured beyond hand lotion.
