This is an extra-special week because Stasha has allowed me to choose the topic. Inspired by a popular Meme we’re having a dinner party. The guest list? Ten people, living or dead that we’d like to get in a room to talk to us and to each other.
A Dream Dinner Party
10. Bill Gates
9. Jose Saramago
8. Donald Margulies
7. Hillary Clinton
6. Meryl Streep
5. John Cusack
4. Stephen King
3. Jimmy Buffett
2. Barack Obama
1. Harper Lee
Who would you invite to your dinner party?

Hillary and Barack were on my list, too. Meryl Streep is another great one. Have you seen Meryl Streep’s speech in honor of Hillary earlier this year? So inspiring!
That’s a pretty intimidating dinner party! All you’d need is Chef Ramsey to cook the meal.
Thanks for the awesome topic! I invited Hillary too. I wish I’d thought to invite Meryl, great idea!
I’d like to add Christopher Walkin. Dude is awesome sauce (and has killer dance moves!).
Jesus, I’d like his take on the current state of the world. Issac Newton, I’d like his take on our current knowledge of the universe.
I feel you on Harper and Hillary for sure! I’d add Truman Capote to the list (I’d love to see he and Harper together) and Maya Angelou. Something about her screams royalty.
I had Barack Obama on my list, too. I never thought to add Hillary Clinton, even though I find her fascinating, too. Maybe I can form another group.
I would for sure need to sit at the kids table. WoW! I am sure I couldn’t keep up with that dinner party!
I would agree with Harper Lee, Meryl Streep, and Jimmy Buffett. I would add, John Kennedy because he was, in my opinion, one of our greatest presidents. Robert Frost, the poet, who reaches deep inside and brings out the best. George Strait for eye candy
I hadn’t seen that Gates quote but I have to find the original source so I can pin it- I love that. I will likely share that on FB and on my fan page. I met Hillary Clinton in high school. A group of families was selected to go to lunch with her and I told her I was leaving for college in a few months- She said, “I cried my entire first year away at college. I missed my family so much”…that was my first impression of her. I thought that was a very real thing to say! I want to come to your dinner party. You, of course, would make my list.
Awesome awesome awesome. I love the way you think. I would totally watch the video of that amazing dinner.
Was very close to putting Harper Lee on my list. And Stephen King is a great one.
Can I just come to yours?
I’ll sit on John Cusack’s lap…
You migh have to fight me for it. And Bridget
I seriously think this was the best listicle yet! Go you for picking such a fun one
Great list! I’m still deciding on my guest list.
This is an amazing list!
I think I’m too dumb to come to your dinner party. Haha! Or at least too socially awkward. I invited George W. Bush to my party so I wouldn’t be the most socially awkward person in attendance. snort.
I am officially crazy about you Bridget! Also I am crashing your dinner party. Love who you invited, the quotes that you chose and the idea for a great listicle! Thank you xoxo
awesome list. (that could be an understatement.)
Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama. Great guests! What time shall I be there?
Sounds like a dinner party I would want to be at!
Love that you included quotes. Love Bill Gates!
—Love what Cusack says about Jesus! This is the Jesus I love….
Oh, I LOVE LOVE this list. I can’t even decide who, of all these great guests, to talk to first. King and Lee together discussing writing – fantastic. The Queen of Drama herself, Streep. Fab. Fab. Fab
Hadn’t heard the Gates’ quote – good one. Nor have I made my list, but Samuel Taylor Coleridge is reported to be one of the finest conversationalists of all time, and Wallace Windsor is said to have been able to make anyone she talked to seem like the most important person in the world. Hadn’t heard of BLINDNESS/Saramago – have ordered.
I agree–great idea to use quotes for your dinner guests. I love quotes.
I love how you used the quotes. I would to love to be at this dinner party–these are some amazing people!
[...] been MIA. I didn’t even do the listicle last week…. Even though it was my friend Bridget’s and I can’t believe I missed her listicle! Which is why you get two for the price of one today. [...]
