Would you like to know the best things to do with kids here in the last frontier? I’m sure you do so head over to ScaryMommy.com. I’m guest posting as part of her Scary Mommy Travel Guide about all the fun there is to be had in Anchorage.

I promise not to complain about the snow.

And cold.

And moose poop.

Because really, there’s a lot to love about this place!

Love this one Bridget! You made it sound like you love Alaska! (just messing with you, I know it is an easy place to love with wine)

  3. Did you say MOOSE POOP? X

  4. Jo-Anne Clough says:

Bridget, admit it…you do love Alaska even without the wine. I am sorry to see you leave, it is the only way I get to come up there.

  5. Nami says:

Sorry, did I accuse you of kissing a moose? I meant reindeer, although after a few martini’s, what’s the diff?

  6. ava says:

A real reindeer, now that’s definitely something I don’t see in Cebu!

Bridget have you ever been up to Hatcher’s Pass/Independence Mine? Its about 1.5 hours out of town, the view is fantastic on a sunny day, and parking is only $5. Its a fun and inexpensive place to take out of state visitors.

I haven’t, but I saw a friends pictures and it looked awesome. Is it open all year round?

      • Lauren says:

They close down the road to the actual mine itself in the winter, but alot of people hike in for back country skiing (not really my thing….). Make sure you check in the spring before going. We took my FIL up the second week of May one year and the snow was still up to my waist on the area that hadn’t been plowed – needless to say we didn’t make it all the way up. The snow was completely melted in the lowlands, so I didn’t think twice about it.
