Monday Listicles

Posted on December 9, 2012 | by Bridget | 30 Comments

Stasha has given me the honor this week of choosing the Monday Listicle topic. Since this is the season of giving, family, and most importantly food – the list is ten things food. Easy, right?

10 Things Food

10. Worst Food - Orange circus peanuts. Blech. Gross, they make me gag just thinking about them.

9. Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip? - Mayo, always. Miracle Whip is disgusting. The worst food violation is making potato salad with Miracle Whip. Don’t be gross.

8. Sandwich - A properly made Reuben (with corned beef not turkey) is easily the best sandwich.

7. Fast Fries - Wendy’s fries with a frosty for dipping. Not that I eat like that anymore…well, hardly ever.

6. Best Pizza - In my hometown, Port Charlotte, Florida there used to be a place called Chicago Pizza. They made a sauerkraut and tomato pizza that still wins as my all-time favorite.

5. Best Leftovers - Pot roast with lots of salt and butter on the vegetables. It’s the only comfort food I crave.

4. Wine - Wild Horse Pinot Noir. (It doesn’t come in a box though, so I hardly ever drink it!)

3. Homemade Meal - This tortellini soup is my favorite thing to make and eat. Lots of vegetables and a little bit of heat. It’s the perfect thing to warm my frozen Alaska heart.

2. Turkey - Fried. Preferably by Dallas.

1. Cocktail - My new favorite cocktail is the Mai Tai. By the time you read this I’ll be sitting on the beach in Hawaii, probably on my second or tenth.

Check back in throughout the week, I have some amazing guest bloggers lined up for you!

Enjoy Hawaii! I’ll be sure to send plenty of snow your way when you return to Alaska :)

  2. Sara says:

You are DISGUSTING! How can I be bff’s with a chick who likes sauerkraut and tomato pizza?!?! YUCK!
I’m dry heaving just thinking about it!

  3. Jo-Anne Clough says:

What????You don’t like Circus Peanuts??? You did when you were young. I love them. I think my favorite comfort food is minestrone soup with a little hot sauce. Haven’t had a Mai Tai in forever, but I used to think they were the best drink ever. Best homemade meal has to be cranberry ham. Hope you are having fun in Hawaii!!! Go…have a few more Mai Tais and relax!!

  4. Diane says:

I’m with you on the orange circus peanuts but…but…my allegiance is with Miracle Whip. Here I thought you were beginning to know me. :(

Hope you’re having a great time in Hawaii!!! Aloooooha!

  5. Angie says:

I love circus peanuts. Orange only though, the other colors are gross. And we have a saying in our house. You are never too broke to buy Miracle Whip! Sorry B. LOL
    Enjoy your trip.

  6. Alma says:

Wish I was in Hawaii drinking Mai Tai! Maybe next year I won’t be pregnant and can drink again.

  7. Bee says:

Blech! Does anyone actually eat those orange peanuts? They are so disgusting!!! Definitely mayo over Miracle Whip. MW tastes funny to me. And I’ve been known to dip my fries in mayo….

  8. Fun topic. Fries and a frosty…yum!

  9. YES to the reuben- my favorite! And the fries (dipped in frosty, of course!)
I have to say, we are a Mayo/Miracle Whip divided household. And I….love the Miracle Whip! ;)
Loved the list, and great idea!

  10. [...] personal trainer values his life and only makes me do this for a week at a time! But since this was Bridget’s idea, I couldn’t very well ignore it, although I was tempted since she’s in Hawaii on vacation [...]

  11. TheBonnyBard says:

Bridget, I love you, but I’m sorry, as a half italian I can’t be friends with you anymore. Saurkraut and tomato pizza. gag.

  12. Julia Gibson says:

We have a local place here that makes ham and sauerkraut pizza! Delicious! Everyone thinks its gross, but they need to try it once. And, I agree… there is nothing like a great reuben. The best is at the Ohio Deli in Columbus.

  13. Stacey says:

You and I cannot be food friends. Circus peanuts are like the best ever! And anyone who puts sauerkraut on a pizza…well, that’s just wrong.

  14. Anja says:

Ha ha, apart from the cocktail and the worst food, we don’t have any favorite food in common. Sauerkraut? I might be German, but you can chase me with that stuff! =) …But take it as a good sign: it seems that you don’t have to share your food with many of your dear commenters! ;-)

  15. Katie E says:

I agree with so many of these! #1 especially – those things are gross. Now I’m kind of craving some Wendy’s fries dipped in a frosty :) I rarely have that treat these days, but if I have fries and a frosty, I definitely dip. I’ll also dip McDonald’s fries in a hot fudge sundae.

  16. Nami says:

That sauerkraut and tomato pizza may have sounded appetizing when I was preggers, but now it’s as appealing as my husband wearing candy underwear. Then again, after ten Mai Tai’s, I’ll eat just about anything.

  17. You have truly crushed my soul with your first one. Circus peanuts are the bomb! Oh man, it will take me a minute to get over this one! ;)

  18. Robin says:

Agree with you on the circus peanuts, gross! My mom loves them, eww! Mayo/miracle whip girl here! I have no allegiance to either. Mayo only works for some things and others need miracle whip. Just sayin… Mai tais on Maui in October for my birthday were the best thing ever!!! I hardly remember turning 49!! Lol. Sauerkraut is just gross!!

  19. Marie says:

Fun! I honestly haven’t thought about orange circus peanuts for forever–forgot they existed! Have a great time in Hawaii–soooo envious!

  20. Who knew that sauerkraut is the great divider? :)

Girl, you could be eating some circus peanuts dipped in Miracle Whip on top of a sauerkraut pizza and it wouldn’t matter. You’re on a beach in Hawaii drinking Mai Tais. Enjoy!

    Ellen

  21. Rorybore says:

Oh bleh – those peanut things are the worst. better drink lots of Mai Tai’s just to get the thought of that taste out of your mouth.
But I am definitely all over that soup, with the red wine……and of course, a Frosty for dessert!
    Enjoy your trip!

  22. Janice says:

    Orange circus peanuts are real?!?!?!?!

And I sooo wish you could totally pass the Mai Tai! You know what? What the heck. Drink a glass or two for me, will ya? Thanks! :D

  23. Wine’s always good to have on the list!

  24. Wayne says:

That is a great list! Fried turkey is really a southern thing though.

  25. Robbie says:

    That tortellini soup looks amazing!!

  26. Audrey says:

Have fun on vacation! Have a mai-tai or 10 for me! and circus peanuts are disgusting!

  27. Sandy says:

Hawaii? Lucky, lucky you…everything (except the wine) is on my list too, I agree with all of it :)

  28. [...] holiday time.  So Stasha’s listicle this week–suggested by Bridget at the always funny Twinisms– asks us to think about food, and I thought that maybe I’d list my favorite recipes or [...]

  29. Stasha says:

You are so eclectic ;) I love me some soup too and your’s looks delish! Thank you for choosing the topic xo
